In a significant step toward bringing government services closer to the people, the Municipality of Estancia successfully hosted the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) Signing and the official turnover of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) – Social Welfare and Development (SWAD) Satellite Office and Warehouse of DSWD Field Office VI.
The MOA was signed by DSWD FO VI Regional Director Joselito G. Estember and Estancia Mayor Ma. Angelica Bianca B. Requinto-Espinosa, in the presence of 5th District of Iloilo Congresswoman Binky April M. Tupas, together with local chief executives and officials from municipalities in the 5th District.
The establishment of the SWAD Satellite Office and warehouse in Estancia is expected to improve the accessibility of vital social welfare programs and emergency assistance services not only for Estanciahanons but also for neighboring towns in Northern Iloilo.
With the facility now situated within the municipality, residents will no longer need to travel to Iloilo City to avail of Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS), transportation assistance, support services for distressed Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), and other forms of aid intended for vulnerable and marginalized sectors.
Local officials expressed gratitude for the opportunity given to Estancia to host the facility, emphasizing that the project reflects the continuing commitment of the government to deliver faster, more responsive, and people-centered social services to communities in the region.
